Dwarven Pantheon

After the devastation of the Comet Strike, the Dubar Silverbeard led the other dwarven gods in a time of mourning. How long they mourned is not known, but when they recovered from the grief over the destruction of the world, as they knew it, they set to work. While the elven gods were planning their new creations, Dubar and the other deities worked together to stabilize Laenwold so that it could once again sustain life. Their toil took a great deal of time, but Laenwold finally settled down into the form that greatly resembles what is seen today.

Once the earth of the world was no longer in a state of upheaval, the dwarves set to mind to repopulate Laenwold. The dwarven gods sat in council for centuries attempting to determine what kind of life they should create on the newly formed Laenwold. On the main points, many of them agreed. It was on the lesser details that they could not agree upon. They eventually fell into factions that were fighting with each other. Dubar declared that each group was to split up and create their own creatures based on the overall plan in which they had agreed upon. This was acceptable to most of the gods, but there was some dissention. The few dissenters were vastly outnumbered, so they agreed to go along with the plan. It is not known which dwarven sub-race walked upon Laenwold first, but it is known which gods took part in creating the separate sub-races.

Dubar Silverbeard led Dwili Gimlode, Grilin Blackhammer, Grolin Storsim and Storunni Barack in the creation of the hill dwarves. Beldina Shieldbearer, Morgar, Hania Sweetwater, Bria Nalakmon and Gurak Songmeister created the mountain dwarves. The evil Duergar were, of course, the creation of Mordal Brassaxe, Kektol Blackfinger, Ragnia and Chalor Fireaxe. Gilundi of the Depths, Harumm Brightcoin, Herdal, Ragi, Gorona and Helgol Chabellin forged the deep dwarves. After the deep dwarves were formed, Gorona realized that her ideas for the new dwarven race had been abandoned. This upset her greatly and she left the ranks of Gilundi's coterie. To this day their animosity is noticeable.

After the dwarves were created, they were left to fend for themselves. The hardiness of the dwarves made this quite easy and they turned their focus to mine the depths of the earth that had been created by the dwarven gods. The minerals, ores, precious metals and gemstones that they fetched from the heart of Laenwold were stockpiled and stored. It was not until Grilin Blackhammer and Gurak Songmeister revealed the secrets of forging and craftsmanship did the dwarves start to create the wonderful items that so many other races take for granted.

Notes:

  • Harumm Brightcoin and Herdal are brothers. Not twins, though.

Spell Recovery: After a full night (or day if nocturnal) of rest. The priest recovers spells while he sleeps and dreams. If his dreams are interrupted, then he must start over again. He must dream for 4 hours in order to regain spells. During the night in which a priest recovers spells beyond 3rd level, his dreams are usually vivid and memorable. Sometimes the dreams will contain important messages and information.
